Job Description

My client, who designs, develops and manufactures complex Laser modules and components, now seeks an experienced Mechanical/Optical Design Engineer Reporting to the Technical Manager you will be involved with the design and development of optical systems including lasers, fibre and similar technologies. 

You will undertake a mixture of mechanical and optical design projects, from initial design through to manufacture

Person Specification

Ideally you will be biased towards mechanical design, but also have some experience of optical design (zemax)

 Candidates with a strong understanding of the relationship between mechanical and optical design will also be considered. 

The role will also include the development of product, tooling, and test equipment. The ideal candidate will have experience using 2D and3D Cad (ideally AutoCAD Inventor 3D, as well as project management experience. 

Knowledge in machine vision/automation, opt-electronics or microelectronic packaging and thermal analysis would be an advantage 

As a successful candidate you will be degree qualified or higher, with a minimum of 2 years industrial experience. 

You will also be self-motivated, have excellent communication skills, along with the drive and focus to supply results.
