Job Description
CIP Technologies (now a wholly owned subsidiary of Huawei) is developing advanced optoelectronic devices for the next generation of communications networks. It has a proven track record of innovation over many years, and is now looking to recruit a number of exciting new roles. Reporting to the Operations Manager and part of the Operations team. The job involves carrying out tests on a range of optoelectronic devices being developed. The tests include DC electro-optical characterization at wafer or chip level, DC optical measurement, RF measurement and high speed system level tests. Tests could also require new measurement setups to be implemented and new measurement techniques to be studied and developed and implemented.
Person Specification
Main Responsibilities
Devise appropriate test techniques to test devices as requested in order to provide data to prove devices;
Understand measurement procedures and device characteristics in order to be able to improve measurement techniques and/or implement new ones;
Good understanding of optoelectronic devices in order to keep detailed records of the tests, in the form of databases, being able to analyze results and develop recommendations in order to give feedback to designers and other customers;
Perform tests of optoelectronic devices for their optical and electrical properties and present data as required. This will include:
Handling of optical components in wafer, bar, bar chip, chip on carrier and packaged form.Handling of optical fibres.
Using optical and electrical test and measurement equipment such as power supplies, source-meters, optical spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, optical and RF power meters, network analyzers, Bit error rate testers and pattern generators.
Handling of delicate passive optical and RF components, including high speed probes.RF and high speed optical component characterization.
Maintain up to date technical knowledge; Provide technical support for other members of the test and measurement team;
Any other adhoc duty as requested by the Operations Manager.
Skills/Qualifications
Essential
Degree in relevant physical science plus 2+ years experience in test and measurement of optoelectronic devices;
Excellent manual dexterity and attention to detail;Exceptional skills in optical and electrical devices handling;Optical fibre handling;
Experience in alignment of optical fibre to active/passive components;
Very good working knowledge of Microsoft Office package, in particular Excel, including Macros;
Knowledge of LabVIEW package.
Desirable
Knowledge of databases (especially MySQL) and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) would be an advantage.
