Photonics21 group announces student prize

Student innovators have until 20 February to apply for the 2013 Photonics21 Student Innovation Award. The winning project will receive a cash prize of €5,000, which will be presented at an awards ceremony on 29 April at the Photonics21 annual meeting in Brussels.
Award sponsors are SPIE Europe, Hamamatsu, Jenoptik, and the Fraunhofer Henrik Hertz Institute.
This will be the fifth time the award has been made. The programme was established by the Research, Education and Training Group (Working Group 7) of the Photonics21 Technology Platform for students in the field of photonics.
Anyone under 35 and active in the field of optics and photonics may apply for the award. Previous winning projects have been in the areas of optical fibre optical systems, organic light-emitting diodes, photovoltaics, lasers for medicine, and remote sensing.
