Flair-13 pulsed DPSS laser
16 June 2010
London-based Midaz Lasers has introduced its Flair-13 model pulsed DPSS laser, emitting 13 Watts of IR at 100kHz, suitable for laser marking systems. Pulse repetition rate can reach 500kHz with extremely short pulse durations. The linearly-polarised beam allows the laser to be easily adapted for green and UV wavelengths.
The company claims that the Flair-13's performance is unmatched by other DPSS lasers, especially in terms of pulse duration, which can be as short as 8ns at 30kHz. Compared to most pulsed fibre lasers, the device delivers very short pulses at all repetition rates with superior beam quality.
Midaz believes that Flair-13 will not only replace existing sources in laser marking systems but also help to create new applications which require best quality marking and micromachining with high throughput. Systems integration is simplified because of Flair's compact size (22cm long, 2.0kg) and modular design. Air cooling helps to keep the cost of the laser low by removing the need for an external water chiller.
