The latest in Cambridge Technology's advances in galvanometer technology, combines our moving magnet actuator technology and our innovative patented advanced optical position detector design. This combination offers the highest torque per watt and closed loop bandwidths, resulting in the highest positioning speed and precision accuracy in any compact, lower cost closed loop galvanometer available in today's market. Our recommended galvo series, by far the broadest in the industry, can be configured to optimize for speed, size, cost and accuracy with typical beam diameters from 1mm to 75 mm. The series is offered in several different connecter and cable options to meet specific system requirements.
Features of the Cambridge Technology Recommended Closed Loop Galvanometer Family
- Highest Galvo Speeds and Step Response Times: The series' positioning speed comes from advanced galvanometer and new actuator design for the highest system resonant frequency and RMS power capability. The newest design of the actuator features extremely high torque along with very little electrical inductance, thus providing high scanner speeds at reduced power supply voltages. These characteristics combine to produce superior system bandwidths, the fastest step response times and the highest repetition rates with excellent wobble and jitter performance.
- Maintaining Position Accuracy and Repeatability at High Speeds: CTI's newest innovation in position accuracy is the advanced optical position detector, which was designed to provide high positioning repeatability, linearity and stability over time and temperature while operating at high speeds.
- High System Performance and Reliability Over Time: Superior product lifetime and reliability result from disciplined design technique, the best in bearing technology and quality manufacturing processes and workmanship. Our scanner designs are computer modeled and have been life-test proven to billions of cycles of operation. CTI's high standards of manufacturing quality guarantees the performance consistency that you need to design the high quality systems demanded in today's competitive marketplace.

Servo Drivers
Cambridge Technology Proprietary Servo Topologies and Designs Provide Maximum Galvo System Performance
Cambridge Technology offers a wide variety of analogue and digital servo drivers to meet your application needs including single and dual axis, compact, low cost, high precision and high power options to optimise your system design. Our Digital servo drivers provide extraordinarily fast marking speeds, real-time parametric reporting and remote support and include self-tuning State-space versions as well as our software-tuned Lightning Digital servo with our TuneMaster™ software. Designed for maximum flexibility, each driver can be configured to operate with most of our extensive line of precision closed loop galvanometers.
Resonant Scanners
Cambridge Technology has been providing standard and customised Resonant Scanners at desired frequencies between 1Hz and 12kHz for many years. Resonant scanners are an ideal solution for applications that require:
Long life in various environments
High speeds over large scan angles
No lubrication or particulate generation
Low power consumption and heat dissipation
Small size and weight
Dynamic Focusing Module
Our field-proven DFM provides the ultimate in modularity and flexibility. Whether your application requires a larger field than can economically be provided with a F-theta lens, or a dynamically changing focal plane to follow contours or to focus at varying workpiece depths, the modularity of Cambridge Technology’s DFM enables you to choose lens type, positioning relative to the fixed objective, field size and focal distance; all synchronous with XY galvo motion and orchestrated by our EC1000 controller.
Open Loop and Specialty Galvo Motors
Cambridge Technology has been providing scanning solutions to customers around the world for over 40 years. Throughout this time, certain unique galvo architectures have been developed or customized for special applications and add to your scanning options. Our open-loop, flexure-based, and rotary actuators are the building blocks of many OEM systems.
EC1000 – Ethernet-based Standalone Embedded Digital Controller
