LightTrans will be displaying its VirtualLab Fusion software, designed for simulation and tolerancing of measurement systems such as interferometers, spectrometers and monochromators, as well as surface metrology systems. VirtualLab takes into account optical effects like diffraction, interference and temporal as well as spatial coherence that characterise most setups, yielding fast and accurate modelling.

For Mach-Zehnder interferometers, the software can calculate characteristic interference fringes and the influence of alignment errors. In the case of a white light Michelson interferometer, the impact of the partially coherent light on the interference pattern can be investigated. The software's simulation of a Czerny-Turner monochromator and spectrometer with parabolic mirrors and a blazed grating takes into account higher diffraction orders based on rigorous analysis.
