Distributor Alrad has launched a new Photonics Division, which will sit alongside its existing Electronics and Imaging Divisions.
Ian Alderton, sales director, said: 'These are exciting times at Alrad and with many more new products available, we feel the time is right to restructure the company's divisions and to give the photonics products their own clear identity.'
The new division, headed by sales manager Tony Wright, distributes a range of photonics products including: diode laser modules, laser components, laser protection products, optical filters, diffraction gratings, photodiodes and IR detectors. Companies represented include: Agiltron, Altechna, Andon, Centronic, Coherent, Dexter, Eldim, IXYS, NoIR, Optometrics and Z-Laser.
Wright added: 'The Alrad name is a well established and respected name in the machine vision world and we aim for Alrad Photonics to become one of the foremost distributors of photonics products in the UK and Eire. Our customers are our business and we hope the new division will better identify to them that Photonics is now one of our core businesses.'
