Laser marking contract for Rofin

The Space Science and Technology Department (SSTD) at the CCLRC Rutherford Appleton Laboratory recently acquired a Rofin SLM laser marking system to ensure it can satisfy the marking requirements of its various clients.

The Assembly, Integration and Verification (AIV) facility tests instruments for space research and aerospace components. The standard SLM model features a large viewing window, internal illumination and a software-controlled, stepper motor driven z-axis for focus adjustment, providing very economical laser marking with the quality and reliability necessary for the high-precision jobs.

Rofin has had a successful year, with record orders and sales of over £6m. As a mark of this growth, it recently moved to larger offices in Daventry, England, to provide improved meeting and training rooms, and more extensive demonstration and applications facilities.
