SPI Lasers is opening a business support office in Shenzhen, China, following strong sales growth over the past year in CW lasers for a wide variety of micro machining applications. It will be working closely with A&P Instrument in China to offer a wide range of applications, product and business support.
A&P Instrument already has six offices across China offering sales and support for SPI lasers. The new office will add extra local SPI management, and enable a direct reporting line to the UK management team. It is hoping to expand the SPI product and application range throughout 2007.
SPI Lasers and A&P Instrument currently offer a ‘try before you buy’ service across China, allowing companies to evaluate lasers free of charge for up to 30 days, with full access to SPI’s global applications laboratory. The Shenzhen office will provide an additional applications laboratory for the Chinese market.
Dr Hoult, applications manager at SPI, said: ‘With this facility companies will be able to send staff to train on the laser prior to using it in production, providing yet another testament to SPI’s investment in the customer experience.’
