Ocean HDX spectrometer

The latest spectrometer from Ocean Optics uses a novel optical bench design and high-performance components to provide high throughput, low stray light and excellent thermal stability for integrated, industrial and research applications. The Ocean HDX has a back-thinned CCD array and new high definition optics to deliver a high level of spectral performance for a compact, UV-visible spectrometer.

The Ocean HDX has a ‘high definition optics’ design, which uses a combination of optimised optical bench components, specialised materials and precision engineering to maximise optical resolution, increase throughput, reduce stray light and maintain thermal stability.

Applications include: determination of analytes in solutions – low stray light contributes to high dynamic range and high absorbance linearity (nearly 3AU); low light applications including fluorescence, thanks to use of a back-thinned CCD detector; optical resolution of <1nm (FWHM) and excellent peak symmetry for applications such as absolute colour accuracy.

The spectrometer is responsive from 200 to 1,100nm, with thermal stability of +/-0.5 pixels from 0 to 45°C. Its high thermal stability and small footprint – just 88.9mm x 63.5mm x 52.4mm – makes it ideal for OEM product integration and industrial applications.

Ocean HDX uses X-platform electronics to enhance its processing and communications capabilities. On-board memory storage and processing functions speed up analysis time. Users can store up to 50,000 spectra and take advantage of on-board averaging to capture more spectral data in less time.
