Ultrafast laser pulses used to develop powerful attosecond imaging technique

By amplifying complementary regions of the spectrum, Takahashi and Xu’s advanced dual-chirped optical parametric amplification (DC-OPA) method involves just two crystals.

Eiji Takahashi and Lu Xu, physicists from the RIKEN Center for Advanced Photonics (RAP), have created extremely short laser pulses with a peak power output of six trillion watts using a new technique called advanced dual-chirped optical parametric amplification.
