Researchers from Heriot-Watt University scientists have received a £6.8 million grant to contribute to the development of a laser system for the extremely large telescope at the European Southern Observatory.

EU grants €700,000 to laser fusion optimisation project

A total of €375 million is available in funding, although most is reserved to support the economy in areas most affected by structural change, academic institutions can also apply for research and development project funding.
