Bookham improves customer design process

Bookham has integrated the 3D virtual-design file-sharing software, Autodesk STEP Translator for AutoCAD, into its sales process, enabling its customers to design-in its high power laser components with greater speed and efficiency.

The system allows Bookham to share technically accurate, specified product designs with customers, who can ‘virtually’ build Bookham components into their end products, such as solid state laser cavities, pump blocks for fiber lasers and direct diode systems.

‘We are finding that the speed and efficiency of the design process is a key factor for our customers, and that the ease of doing business with a supplier is becoming increasingly important to them,’ said Bookham head of High Power Laser Diode Sales, Gunnar Stolze.  ‘Integration of the Autodesk STEP Translator into our existing AutoCAD software enables customers to see instantly the physical fit of our components, and enables us to become an important partner in the development of their products.’
