US-based Ace Laser Tek has recently invested in its eighth Electrox laser marking machine, enabling it to specialise in contract marking of high-end components.
When Greg Litcher founded Ace Laser Tek, lasers were little more than scientific toys, but as technology progressed, Litcher could see how lasers offered significant benefits over other forms of permanent marking such as roll stamping, chemical etching and pad printing. After researching the market, he felt that Electrox offered the most progressive machines and invested in the Raymarker – a machine that’s still going strong, in his job shop, to this day.
Nearly 25 years later and Ace Laser Tek employs 12 people and has purchased seven more Electrox lasers to meet customer demand. These include three Scriba I lasers, a Scriba II, two Cobra UV lasers and its most recent investment a Raptor fibre laser marking system. The Raptor is specifically designed for the high speed marking of metals and plastics. It features an EF Technology diode pumped fibre laser, which ensures that the marks produced are of high quality and good legibility, and it can permanently mark 1,000 characters per second with an accuracy of 5µm.
