Rofin marking lasers are being used by MSM Sportvermarktungs to mark thousands of medals at major sporting events around Europe. Klaus Huber and Marion Hillenbrand use four Rofin laser marking systems to mark the medals with live data received from the official timekeepers.
Recent events have included the 2009 Berlin Marathon, where athletes reported to a tent close to the finish to have their medals marked by Huber and his 15-strong team. The set-up included an RS marker, two EasyMark systems and a PowerLine F20 fibre laser. MSM has been operating these mobile laser marking systems since the Munich Marathon in 2001, and are now used in more than 70 sports events throughout Europe every year.
