NIST makes use of Optronic Laboratories light source

Optronic Laboratories recently delivered a specially designed version of its popular OL 490 Agile light source to the American National Institute of Standards and Technology, or NIST (Gaithersburg, USA).

NIST commissioned the custom OL 490 for a range of specialised applications ranging from hyperspectral imaging of human hepatic cells and tissues undergoing various stimuli to imaging endogenous fluorescence from live corals. The OL 490 will be used to study how to stretch the contrast between similarly-coloured, but functionally different features in tissues through variation of the spectral distribution.

Optronic Laboratories states that the OL 490 was chosen for the project due to the ease with which its digitally tunable spectral distribution can be changed.
