Broadband IR Laser Output Coupler

Reynard has introduced a IR laser output coupler, making use of novel coating techniques to allow stable laser output at a range of IR wavelengths.

The coupler is suitable for tunable wavelength lasers with outputs from 7 to 11µm. Reynard claims stable reflectivity of 90 per cent (± two per cent) at a near-normal angle of incidence.

An all-dielectric approach to the coupler's coating reduces absorption in the thin film design, which in turn stabilises thermal effects, and can stabilise the overall laser system design.

Reynard has fabrication, thin film coating, and measurement facilities all in-house, and is able to deliver custom filters directly from specifications or drawings. Modifications to the design have shown theoretical equivalent performance in the MWIR (three to five micron) spectral range.
