Digital scan heads

Raylase has expanded its portfolio with digital scan heads for high-end applications. The heads enable highly accurate marking, different process optimised tunings, improved dynamics and numerous diagnostic options. Here, Raylase has developed the control algorithms with attention to particular low-noise design.

Developed in twin-shell design, the Raylase scan heads offer improved dynamics with acceleration times of up to ≤0.18 ms and high quality writing speeds >800cps. Digital drive enables a multitude of setups, which makes the scan head considerably more flexible possible. Further advantages of digital technology are exceptionally low drift values with a maximum gaindrift of 50ppm/K and a maximum offset drift of 3 µrad/K.

Long-term drift over 8 hours in the standard version is <150µrad. In addition, the new series provides essential diagnostic data in real time, such as status information, speed and position of the mirrors, temperature of electronics, and error messages. Time-shift and resulting tracking errors are thus compensated. Digital regulation enables monitoring the procedural correctness of all processes, which significantly increases process reliability.

In developing the digital scan heads Raylase particularly emphasised low-noise design required for high-precision scribing applications. Tuning of the scan heads customised to the requirements of the application or customer is possible, and furthermore deflection mirrors and lenses for all typical laser beam sources and working fields are available. Raylase also offers a high-speed version of its digital scan heads featuring particularly light and torsion-resistant mirrors. Also available is a low-drift version with a long-term drift of <100µrad over 24 hours featuring water tempering and auto-calibration.

The Raylase digital scan heads are ideally suited for high-end applications which require flexibility, such as the production of solar cells, flat screens and LEDs. Typical processing types include marking/scribing, welding, drilling, high-speed processing of moving parts, micromachining and rapid prototyping.
