Jenoptik Laserdiode has introduced its new passively cooled QCW diode laser stack – the JOLD-x-Q-8A. The stack can be air cooled and has an optical output power of up to 1600W at 195A, for duty cycles up to 2 per cent. Alternatively, it provide 1200W output at 150A for duty cycles up to 4 per cent, with a voltage is less than 17V. The expected lifetime is more than 1 GShot. The product provides good thermal and mechanical stability, and would be suitable for use in the aerospace industry.
