Quadrant photodiode JQC5R

Laser Components has introduced the quadrant photodiode JQC5R, a monolithic component for high resolution position measurements and tracking applications, within the 215-260nm spectrum.

The active material, silicon carbide, is naturally solar blind above 420nm. The total diameter of the active area is 2.525mm, and the surface area of each single quadrant is 1.25mm². The distance between the quadrants is 32µm, which, compared to the JQC4, has been reduced by a factor of five.

The typical sensitivity is 0.14A/W at 254nm (mercury vapour lamps) and 248nm (excimer lasers). The 'R' in the article number refers to the polarity, which has been inverted compared to the previous model.
