SC-3 non-MEMS resonant scanner

Electro-Optical Products (EOPC) has developed the SC-3, a miniature electromagnetically-driven moving mirror device that deflects a light beam with a continuous sinusoidal motion.

EOPC's technology offers 6mm diameter, 7x7mm and 12x7mm size mirrors, with an optical scanning angle up to 50°, and a fixed-frequency scanning range from 100 to 1,000Hz, fixed at any one value within the range.

AGC type driver provides both sine wave and TTL level square wave reference signals, and trimpot control to adjust the phase of the reference signals with respect to the position of the mirror or vane. The adjustable range is 180 degrees. It also offers amplitude adjustment in the range of 20 to 100 per cent of the full amplitude.

The low cost scanner is an excellent tool to be used in OCT imaging studies and fits emerging trends of building smaller, portable and handheld systems, especially in the medical field, making diagnosis of diseases and treatment of patients more affordable and less expensive.
