Bright Solutions (Pavia, Italy) has introduced a more compact version of its existing Wedge HF Q-switched DPSS laser. The new compact OEM configuration provides 180µJ of pulse energy at 1,064nm with pulse widths as short as 700ps and repetition rate capabilities from 10-100kHz. The Wedge HF produces superior beam quality with an M2 of 1.1. Harmonic wavelengths of 355nm, 532nm, and even the eye-safe wavelength of 1.5µm are also available. Average power produced in the IR with the Wedge HF is 3W at 20kHz and 4W at 100kHz, with conversion to the second harmonic of 50 per cent, and 30 per cent for the third harmonic. At 1.5µm wavelengths the manufacturer expects 500mW of power at 10kHz repetition rates.
With the optical head of the Wedge HF measuring 7.5 x 3.5 x 2.8-inches, the laser is suitable for integration into end user systems where small dimensions are required. Cooling of the laser is achieved by fan-forced air. The Wedge HF can be used in applications such as thin film ablation, micromachining, OPO pumping, speciality scribing, materials processing, or Lidar.
