Here at the Electro Optics office Grotto, we’ve been busy getting ready for Christmas - measuring the lumens of Rudolph’s nose, testing the quality of our mince pies with a spectrometer and fitting the FMCW lidar to Santa’s sleigh.
Now we’ve finished adding the final touches (naturally, laser-levelling the tinsel and calibrating the Christmas lights to precisely 532 and 650nm), we thought we’d invite the nation over to join in with the festivities... in our first event of the new ‘Light Quiz' series.

Join us online on Friday 19 December 14:00 GMT, for our festive (and ever-so-loosely-based-on-Photonics) quiz, with questions across a variety of (mostly) non-technical categories.
This is your chance to:
- Show off your photonics prowess – as well as, maybe, your obscure trivia knowledge – with questions that may or may not include subjects such as Christmas lights, reindeer migration patterns and how to detect if ‘He’s’ been, without getting out of bed.
- Spend a glorious quiz session (or however long it lasts until you’re rumbled) pretending to work.
- Invite and team-up or compete with colleagues, friends, family or anyone else on your social media feed.
