LASYS 2010 moves to June

LASYS will be held for the second time in Stuttgart from 8 to 10 June 2010 alongside two laser symposiums in the accompanying programme: SLT and LPM.

LASYS 2010 will open its doors for business in summer from 8 to 10 June 2010. Around 200 exhibitors are again expected to attend the 2nd International Trade Fair for System Solutions in Laser Material Processing.

Over a period of three days, they will present their innovations and further developments in the field of laser technology on a gross exhibition area of 20,000 square metres in the high hall at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre. The focal points of the trade fair will be laser applications, product solutions, laser production systems for micro-material/macro-material processing and precision engineering, as well as related components. The first registrations and a large number of options are already a clear indication of the great interest among exhibitors at present, a good 18 months before the start of LASYS.

LASYS is the first trade fair - covering different materials and industries - for system solutions in laser material processing. It lived up to this claim during its premiere in March 2008. The visitors came from more than 30 industries, including the motor vehicle construction industry, the electrical engineering and electronics industry, the glass industry, the timber industry, the plastics industry, the mechanical engineering industry, the medical technology industry, the optical industry, the jewellery industry, the textile industry, the packaging industry and the toolmaking and mouldmaking industry. This cross-section of industries emphasises the impressive range of uses of lasers. With regard to the size of the companies from which the visitors came, there was also an even mixture of small firms, medium-sized companies and large enterprises.

Two accompanying events will be held during LASYS 2010. After the large crowds during LASYS 2008, the duration of the Stuttgart Laser Technology Forum (SLT) has been extended from two to three days. The focal point of this forum will be the transfer of knowledge between industry and research. This event is being organised by the FGSW (Forschungsgesellschaft für Strahlwerkzeuge) and the IFSW (Institut für Strahlwerkzeuge) of Universität Stuttgart.

The 11th International Symposium on Laser Precision Microfabrication (LPM) will take place on 7 June 2010, one day before the start of LASYS 2010. This event is regarded as a catalyst between basic research and the industrial application of micro-laser technologies and is being organised by the Japan Laser Processing Society (JLPS).

The Beginners' Seminar on 8 June 2010 will pave the way for everyone who wants to use laser material processing, but does not yet possess any knowledge of this subject. Under the technical direction of Wissenschaftliche Gesellschaft Lasertechnik (WLT), this one-day workshop will explain how lasers actually work and what technologies and countless application options are available.

O&S, International Trade Fair for Surface Treatments and Coatings, will also be held concurrently with LASYS 2010 at the New Stuttgart Trade Fair Centre from 8 to 10 June 2010.
