Hamamatsu launches diffuse reflection light source optimised for real-time food & pharmaceutical analysis

Hamamatsu Photonics has developed a diffuse reflection near-infrared light source, the L16462-01, which irradiates samples with light at wavelengths up to 2,500nm and collects the diffuse reflection light with high efficiency.

The device increases light utilisation efficiency in wavelengths ranging from 1,700-2,500nm, where light intensity has previously been too weak for performing real-time component analysis using near-infrared spectroscopy.

Combining this with a high-sensitivity FTIR spectrometer engine makes for a compact, portable FTIR analyser for food, pharmaceutical and plastic product production lines.
