Juerg Leuthold, Professor and Head of Institute, ETH Zurich
With principal interests in photonics, plasmonics, microwave, atomic scale technologies and integrated optics with emphasis on applications in communications and sensings, Juerg Leuthold heads the Institute of Electromagnetic Fields (IEF) at ETH Zurich, also where he was awarded his PhD in 1998.
He is currently conducting research into photodetectors and electro-optical modulators with flat frequency response up to 500 GHz – the fastest in the world.
