Opton Laser International has partnered with Lightnovo to release a miniaturised Raman spectrometer.

The spectrometer features an integrated, patented, reference channel, which Opton Laser says reduces size and cost, and eliminates calibration issues in the device, ensuring fast and reliable results.

The system also integrates a unique way of reducing signal to noise, allowing users to achieve a good Raman signal on materials usually requiring bulky and expensive equipment, according to the firm.

The MiniRaman spectrometer measures 25 x 30 x 105mm, weighs around 0.5kg (down to 200 g on request) and can integrate one or two lasers, the firm says.

The system covers the fingerprint region from 400 to 4500 cm-1, with a resolution of 10-15 cm-1, and features a good signal-to-noise.

Opton Laser says the instrument will soon be available integrated with a miniature microscope, bringing further possibilities for Raman users.
