There is a growing use of high-power industrial lasers for a range of materials processing applications by the world’s armed forces.
While the ongoing development, adoption and testing of kilowatt-class laser weaponry (more on page 14) has been capturing headlines in recent years, it is perhaps less known that the defence industry also relies on high-power lasers for many other less spectacular (but certainly no less important) applications, such as materials processing.
