During his earlier research career, Maxim Karpov and his colleagues demonstrated how comb laser technology could be used for ultra-high-capacity optical data transmission, achieving speeds of more than 50Tb/s and breaking the world record for comb-laser communications at that time. 

In a separate project, the group showed that its technology could accelerate optical computing architectures for machine learning tasks.
