Seb Savory

Seb Savory, Professor of Optical Fibre Communication, University of Cambridge
Seb Savory has enjoyed an academic career of the highest magnitude, but is emphatic that he owes his start to industry.
"The STL / Nortel Harlow labs played a critical role in my education and outlook. I joined the Harlow labs in August 1991 for a year prior to reading engineering at Cambridge, and returned there every summer, before starting a Nortel-funded PhD in October 1997. I then joined the labs full-time from October 2000-December 2004, only leaving once the optical R&D groups were closed."
