REO has appointed HollyWinx Optics as its exclusive representative in China. HollyWinx specialises in selling high performance optics and thin films into the Chinese laser, materials processing, photovoltaics, automotive, biomedical, advanced lighting, projection, display and semiconductor industries.
HollyWinx was founded in 2009 by David Wu and Mel Francis. David Wu has over a decade of experience in marketing photonics technology within China, while Mel Francis adds expertise in optical system design and thin film engineering. The company is headquartered in Shanghai, and also maintains offices in Shenzhen and Beijing.
‘Selling optics made in the United States into China represents the opposite of the typical flow,’ noted Francis. ‘But, components with finer levels of surface finish and higher performance coatings are not readily obtainable in China. This provides an opportunity for precision optics manufacturers, such as REO, to service more demanding applications.’
