OSA launches new journal for optics and photonics research

The Optical Society (OSA) has launched a new open-access online journal, titled Optica, which will include research in the optics and photonics fields. The first issue was published on 22 July, and covers subject matters such as remote sensing, high-speed data transmission and nanoscale imaging, and its main story is from Stanford University, who have developed high-efficiency, long-lasting solar cells that cool themselves with a specially patterned layer of silica glass.

Optica provides an international and publicly available forum for scientists in optics and photonics to showcase their most relevant and influential research,’ said Optica’s editor-in-chief Alex Gaeta of Cornell University.
