532-2 and 532-2Y lasers

Spectra-Physics, a Newport Company, has introduced two new additions to its Explorer One line of ultra-compact actively Q-switched diode pumped solid state (DPSS) lasers. The new Explorer One 532-2 and 532-2Y lasers output more than 2W of average power at green wavelengths. The new models are ideal for applications that require exceptional performance and extreme durability in a tiny footprint, including micromachining and marking of metals and plastics, laser direct structuring (LDS) in PCB manufacturing, intra-glass marking, as well as thin film scribing.

Explorer One 532-2 is a Nd:Vanadate laser targeted for applications that require high pulse repetition frequencies, while Explorer One 532-2Y is a Nd:YAG laser that for pulse energy hungry applications. Explorer One 532-2 delivers more than 2W at 532nm, 50kHz repetition rate and provides single pulse energy measurement up to 300kHz. Explorer One 532-2Y delivers a high pulse energy of more than 200 µJ at 10kHz. Both lasers have short pulse widths and low pulse energy noise as well as a typical M2 of 1.1 for ultra-stable processes and highest production yield.

Also available in UV wavelengths, the rugged and miniature Explorer One are “It’s in the Box” lasers, integrating power supply and laser head into a single package that weighs less than 1.5kg. Explorer One has been tested to endure bare product shock and vibration with accelerations of more than 200 g’s, making it perfect for use on moving gantries. The laser is based on the proven Explorer platform with demonstrated high reliability from thousands of units deployed in 24/7 applications.
