L-3 Applied Optics Center, part of L-3 Communications Warrior Systems, has developed a line of enhanced, protected gold optical coatings for deposition on large-format, high-value substrates. The gold thin-film coatings are used for deposition on lightweight optical elements for applications where weight and performance are critical design factors, such as terrestrial and airborne imaging systems.
The coatings are offered in excess of 350mm in diameter. They can be designed in accordance with specific customer requirements to maximise wavelength-specific performance, from the deep ultraviolet to the far infrared. In addition, the coatings are designed in accordance with stringent customer requirements for durability and environmental stability.
Other AOC products in development include highly-specialised reflective metallised films such as protected silver, aluminium, silicon carbide, and a range of metal oxides for commercial and military applications.
