NKT Photonics opens new production facility and sales office in Boston

NKT Photonics is growing. This summer, we are expanding our global activities even further with a new facility in Boston. Over the past year, we have added numerous new US hires to our North American sales force and will be adding additional engineering, manufacturing and support positions in the Boston facility.

Strengthening our U.S. presence

Basil Garabet, President and CEO of NKT Photonics, states “The Boston facility significantly strengthens our U.S. presence. In addition to being the headquarter for all our U.S.-based sales, it will accommodate a state-of-the-art single-frequency fiber laser production as well as a brand-new Application and Service laboratory and design capability.“

With these capabilities, we will greatly increase our support of multiple markets in the US and Canada including scientific/academic, medical/life sciences, industrial/manufacturing and aerospace/defense.

“The new facility will be an important hub for all our North American activities”, says Stephen Phillips, Operations Manager. ”We look forward to becoming a member of the local community and with this location, we also hope to attract some of the best photonics talents in the area”, Phillips adds.

Overlooking the Boston Harbor

Looking out on the Boston Harbor, our facility is in the Innovation and Design Building, a historic eight-story structure which dates back to 1918 and is now home to a diverse mix of companies and entrepreneurs, including architects and engineers, skilled makers and craftspeople, research, and development firms, and technology start-ups.

The complex is conveniently located along the MBTA Silver Line route, just minutes from South Station, and is flanked by one of the country’s largest working dry docks to the north and by the Black Falcon Cruise Terminal to the south.

Looking for talents

Soon we will be looking for talents to fill newly created positions. So, keep an eye out for the job ads, if you would like to work with lasers AND have a harbor view.
