Laser Components has introduced its OT-4040 portable laser alignment system for the precise alignment of mechanical structures across distances of up to 300 feet. The OT-4040 enables instant measurement of X-Y deviation, in real-time, at any point on a visible laser reference line.

The system is given a conservatively specified 0.001-inch resolution at distances up to 300 feet (25µm over 90m), and it is, according to the company, intuitive to operate. The OT-4040 finds applications in aircraft manufacturer, shipbuilding, and in the automotive industry, where it has increased efficiency and reduced man hours in a range of challenging alignment applications.
