Laser Components has begun distributing the Pireplus high output infrared emitter manufactured by Cal Sensors. The device features integrated drive electronics, and offers an output of 0.04W/cm2 at pulse rates of up to 180Hz at 50 per cent modulation depth. The emitter is packaged in a TO-5 with a 14-pin integrated circuit IC housing the drive electronics.
The components of the Pireplus have been designed as a system to provide maximum output over a range of pulse frequencies. Additionally, the Pire emitter (SPF220-5M2) has been designed to optimise both heat-up and cool-down performance of the filament. The associated drive electronics are matched to the emitter to provide the optimum drive waveform over a range of frequencies and ensure peak output temperatures at all frequencies.
