Saturn 5 Optical Scanner

At the recent Photonics West exhibition, ScannerMax, a new division of Pangolin Laser Systems, unveiled a galvanometer-based optical scanner, which it says has significant performance advantages over other products on the market.

ScannerMax says it has completely reinvented the galvanometer, with its Saturn 5 Optical Scanner, designed for 3mm to 8mm apertures.

The company says the scanner offers clients a new formula for optical scanning success – and while the concepts are simple, the technology behind them have been in development for a long time.

The ability to go faster, and operate at a cooler speed, is important for many industrial and medical laser applications, including confocal microscopy, optical coherence tomography, and raster image scanning.
