Sensors Unlimited SWIR digital video camera

UTC Aerospace Systems, a unit of United Technologies, will introduce its next generation Sensors Unlimited shortwave infrared (SWIR) digital video camera at the AUVSI North America Exhibition this week in Las Vegas, Nevada.

This high-resolution, indium gallium arsenide (InGaAs) mil-rugged digital video camera features 30Hz full-frame rate and adds snapshot mode capability to the Sensors Unlimited high-definition SWIR product range. The camera, model GA1280JS, features 30Hz full frame-rate with a global shutter function, featuring a high-sensitivity of 1.3 megapixel resolution at 1,280 x 1,024 pixels and a 12.5µm pitch.

The camera is lightweight (less than 120 grams without lens) and compact (less than 4.5 cubic inches or 74 cubic centimetres), allowing for easy integration into aerial, mobile and hand-held imaging systems. It provides real-time daylight to low-light imaging (including partial moonlight) in the SWIR with high sensitivity in the 0.9 to 1.7µm.

The optional NIR/SWIR model operates from 0.5 to 1.7µm. The InGaAs-SWIR sensor images through atmospheric obscurants such as smoke, fog, and haze. All-solid-state, the J-series cameras require no cooling; they also feature on-board, automatic gain control (AGC) and real-time non-uniformity corrections (NUCs), making it possible to address the challenges of urban night imaging, without blooming.
