Armstrong Optical is distributing the SP-S non-contact vibrometer system from SIOS Messtechnik. The system can measure vibrations from 0Hz to ~1MHz and is suitable for automotive vibration testing.

The SP-S system uses a focused, frequency-stabilised helium-neon laser to measure dynamic vibration modes. A typical application could be the evaluation of resonant vibration frequencies of brake pads at various speed and loading ratios. Other measurements have been made on components as engine blocks, door panels, steering wheels, and cooling fans. The system can be used on all materials and surface types.

The SP-S system uses a focused laser probe emitted from a small, electrically passive measurement head physically removed from the control electronics, allowing measurements in constrained and harsh environments.
