SQLightSensor single photon detector

SmartQuantum has released its SQLightSensor, an ultra-low noise near-IR single photon detector based on a Geiger-mode InGaAs avalanche photodiode and an internal thermoelectric cooler.

The sensor is capable of a detection efficiency up to 25 per cent, low dark counts of  5 x 10-6 per nanosecond, high speed trigger up to 10MHz, and low jitter. The gate width and the delay are adjustable. In addition the sensor provides plug-and-play PC connections via the USB interface, which facilitates adjustments of the detection efficiency, and gate width and delay.

The detector is well suited to scientific, defence and industrial applications, such as single photon counting, spectroscopy, microscopy, fluorescence, eye-safe laser range finding or lidar, and quantum cryptography.
