Laser imaging used for the early detection of at-risk artwork
Commercial and synthesised CdS. Commercial CdS (Sigma Aldrich): (a) powder, (b) linseed oil paint, and (c) microscopic image. Synthesised CdS: (d) powder, (e) linseed oil paint, and (f) microscopic image. Commercial CdS contains large, semitransparent crystals, while synthesised CdS displays smaller grains without clear crystalline structures. Image: Duke University
