The winner of the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026 will be officially presented with their award at Optatec, the international trade fair for optical technologies, taking place 5-7 May 2026 in Frankfurt, Germany.
The award ceremony will be held during a special session on Wednesday 6 May, bringing the Photonics Frontiers Award to one of the industry’s most important European meeting points for photonics, optics, and enabling technologies.
Commenting on the announcement, Warren Clark, CEO of Europa Science, said: “We are delighted to partner with Optatec Messe as the location and date of our award ceremony for the 2026 Photonics Frontiers Award. At a special session on Wednesday 6 May, we will reveal the winner of this prestigious award, which celebrates collaboration and innovation in photonics by focusing on ‘projects not products’.”
The Photonics Frontiers Award recognises collaborative projects that are pushing the boundaries of photonics, highlighting innovation that delivers real-world impact rather than individual components or standalone products.
Entries for the Photonics Frontiers Award 2026 are still open. Due to strong interest, entries have been extended by two weeks, giving you more time to submit your project. The new deadline is 13 February 2026.
Organisations involved in innovative photonics projects are encouraged to submit their entry now.
