Five years ago, The Photonics100 was launched with a clear mission: to celebrate the people whose ideas, innovations and leadership are shaping the future of photonics.
Since then, it has grown into one of the industry's most recognised and respected initiatives, shining a spotlight on the researchers, engineers, entrepreneurs, visionaries and business leaders driving progress across the global photonics community.
Today, Electro Optics is proud to announce the launch of the fifth edition of The Photonics100, with nominations now officially open.
Over the past four years, The Photonics100 has recognised hundreds of outstanding individuals from academia, industry, start-ups and research organisations worldwide. Together, they represent the talent and expertise behind many of the most important advances in photonics, helping to accelerate innovation in fields ranging from AI infrastructure and quantum technologies to advanced imaging, sensing, semiconductors, healthcare, communications and manufacturing.
As the initiative enters its fifth year, The Photonics100 also reaches an important milestone. What began as an effort to recognise individual achievement has evolved into a living record of the people and ideas transforming the photonics sector.
Yet the story is far from complete.
Across laboratories, manufacturing facilities, start-ups, universities and multinational organisations, a new generation of innovators is already making its mark. Breakthrough technologies are emerging, new applications are being developed and fresh leaders are helping to shape the future direction of the industry. The Photonics100 exists to ensure these contributions do not go unnoticed. Whether it's a pioneering researcher, an inspirational leader, an ambitious entrepreneur, an exceptional engineer or a rising star at the start of their career, now is the time to recognise the individuals making a difference.
