Timothy Olsen, Chief Technology Officer, Omega Optical

Tim Olsen’s current work delves into the world of hygroscopic optics. Specifically, he is working on improved efficiencies of the optical manufacturing of hygroscopic optics.

Hygroscopic materials are used in many spectroscopic applications, now stretching as far as, for instance, milk analysis for developing nations. Meanwhile, instruments using hygroscopic materials are moving towards digital medicine by analysing complex biofluids performing in-vitro analysis. The infrared spectrum is also used to establish molecular fingerprinting.
