Ams acquires spectral sensing specialist Mazet

Ams a designer and manufacturer of sensor technology, has acquired colour and spectral sensing specialist Mazet in order to expand its optical sensing business. The transaction will drive colour and spectral sensing growth opportunities in industrial, automotive and medical applications, Ams has said.

Focused on industrial and medical applications, Mazet’s capabilities include IC and filter design as well as hardware and software system development with its Jencolor sensors being used in applications such as agriculture and medical skin lesion analysis. The company is based in Jena, Germany, with around 80 employees.

‘Combining complementary products and the sensor expertise of both companies will create an even stronger leadership position with a leading portfolio of optical sensors targeting the automotive, industrial, medical and smart lighting end markets,’ commented Dr Fred Grunert, CEO of Mazet.
