CILAS appointes new CEO

CILAS, a French manufacturer of lasers and optronics, has appointed Philippe Lugherini as chief executive officer. Lugherini comes to CILAS from Nuclétudes, a subsidiary of EADS Astrium Space Transportation, where he had been chief executive since 2005.

After graduating from l'Ecole Polytechnique, and l’Ecole Nationale Supérieure de l’Aéronautique et de l’Espace, Philippe Lugherini started his career in 1982 with the Missiles and Space Directorate at the Délégation Générale pour l’Armement, where he was in charge of the space component for the French military HELIOS-1 satellite programme. In 1990, he joined SODERN, which has since become a subsidiary of EADS, as director of research and development, then as director of space contracts before subsequently being appointed as director of space activities.

CILAS develops, manufactures and markets products and systems for civil and military defence and security, major scientific laser programmes and scientific and industrial instrumentation.
