Extended Chinese facility for GSI

GSI Group has extended its new laser manufacturing facility in Suzhou, China, which will now produce the entire JK series of solid-state lasers.

The Suzhou facility already produces GSI’s range of CO2 lasers. The move will extend GSI’s well-established Asian market, which currently represents more than 50 per cent of its laser sales.

The Suzhou facility is managed by engineers trained at GSI’s manufacturing headquarters in Rugby, UK. All lasers will be built to the same standards as those manufactured in the UK.

Emrys Jones, business development director at GSI, said: ‘The growth of the automotive and electronics industries in China has led to a demand for the very best in manufacturing technology.’
