Photonic systems manufacturer Gooch & Housego has announced the formation of a new corporate level engineering group that will handle externally funded system design and development activities.
The new Systems Technology Group will build on the company’s capabilities in customising and integrating optical technologies. The company anticipates opportunities in, diagnostic and therapeutic life science systems and in aerospace and defence applications.
‘Our aim is to harness Gooch & Housego’s unique engineering capabilities and focus these on achieving our strategic plan of becoming a complete solutions provider by supplying systems design services in addition to components and modules,’ said Murray Reed. He is Gooch & Housego’s CTO.
The group will initially comprise of several of the company’s most senior engineers and report to the senior vice president, Andrew Robertson, and Reed. The group is expected to expand rapidly and be a significant vehicle for the continued growth.
