Haas named as a finalist for the 2014 Prism Awards

Haas laser technology has been named as a finalist for the 2014 Prism Awards, for its Beam Waist Analyzer Monitor (BWA-MON) in the category of advanced manufacturing. The BWA-MON and software enable real time beam measurement of a laser.

The design contains no moving components and provides instantaneous measurement and analysis of the laser beam's spatial profile, circularity, centroid, astigmatism and M2 values. The monitor can be used either separately or as a component of the Haas Laser Beam Analyzer System. Michael Scaggs, senior optical design engineer at Haas said: ‘In every laser application, the laser beam profile provides valuable information for the most efficient use of the laser.’

The 2014 Prism Awards is an international photonics innovation competition presented at the SPIE Photonics West event in February. In the past the awards have received applications from more than 35 countries to be judged by a panel of leading industry experts, venture capitalists and luminaries.
